September 28, 2024, marks the 25th anniversary of the Buddhist Digital Resource Center. Since 1999, BDRC has sought out and digitized manuscripts, many of them rare or endangered. After a quarter century of dedicated work in partnership with local communities, more than 30 million pages of Buddhist texts are preserved in digital form and freely available to the world.
BDRC's future is close at hand as we launch our anniversary campaign for sustainability. With the goal of making our Buddhist archive secure and accessible forever, we are investing in BDRC's longevity.
With your help, in our next quarter century, BDRC can:
Safeguard Buddhist manuscripts vulnerable to climate and political instability
Innovate technologies to unlock the wisdom encrypted in the archive
Assist Buddhist communities to become more self-sufficient in the digital preservation of their traditions.
Friday September 20 at the Rubin Museum of Art, New York City
Join us in New York for an evening that explores the evolution of Buddhist wisdom and knowledge as it is translated between cultures: from ancient times to today and into the future. With a talk by renowned scholar Donald S. Lopez, a dramatic Buddhist reading by actor and writer Michael Imperioli, and musical performances from guest artists, this evening promises to be a celebration on multiple levels.
The Galleries will be open before and after the talk, one of the last opportunities to visit the current manifestation of the Rubin before it transforms itself into its next global incarnation. Don't miss the opportunity to celebrate the transformative reinvention of two key Buddhist institutions at once!
